After a few weeks of tense rumors and speculation, Nintendo has finally confirmed that they are, inf cat, working on a successor to the Wii, DigitalBattle reports. The new console will be released on 2012, and will be officially announced at E3 this year, which takes place in early June.
The new console is rumored to include a Blu-ray drive and is said to be a lot more powerful than the current Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. The Wii 2 or Wii HD, whatever it’s called, is likely a counter to Microsoft and Sony releasing motion controllers to their respective consoles last year. However, the Wii is still the best selling current gen console, with 85 million units sold worldwide.
