(Chesky SACD 332)

The Look of Love is the singer’s second album on Chesky and her first album release in Super Audio CD. We first heard from Joyce with her performance of “Fever” on Chesky’s Super Audio CD titled “World’s Greatest Audiophile Vocal Recordings” (Chesky SACD 323). In this recording, Joyce is joined by a Jazz Trio led by pianist David Hazeltine as she performs 10 well known classics written by famed pianist and composer Burt Bacharach with a Jazz flavor.

In the SACD’s liner notes, Ted Panken says “On this excellent recital, Joyce and pianist David Hazeltine, a long standing master at arranging reimagined ‘new standards’ find ways to change each composition and make them, as Joyce puts it, “interesting and fresh and new” while remaining faithful to the emotional thrust of the lyrics.”

Album Producer David Chesky adds that “Valerie has a great feel for the music and has one of the most unique singing voices I have ever heard.”
