TACET Announce ‘The Auryn Series Vol.10’ DVD-Audio Release

TACET have announced their latest Auryn Quartet DVD-Audio disc will be released on November 28th.

The Auryn Series Vol.10’ features the Piano Quintet in F minor op.34 by Johannes Brahms and Variations and Fugue on a Theme op.24 by Handel.

From TACET: It is beyond dispute that Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor op. 34 is a symphony in chamber music form. Performed here by the Auryn Quartet, it forms the tenth release in TACET’s own series.

The Auryn Quartet is joined by the pianist Peter Orth, who was born in Philadelphia, studied with Rudolf Serkin and has lived in Germany since 1991. This partnership has already proved its worth: in 1998 their recording of two piano quintets (on cpo) won a British CD Classic award. This newest TACET recording will also be of prize-winning quality, especially as, in addition to this mighty quintet, Peter Orth also contributes the equally monumental Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel op. 24.

Once again the music has also been recorded on DVD-Audio for the steadily growing band of Real Surround Sound enthusiasts and will also be made available as a CD. The catalogue numbers are DVD D 120 and CD120 respectively.
