Samsung PN42C450 Plasma Television Review-Lower End But Still Good

Samsung has brought out a LOT of different models of television over the last few years, and they’ve been something of a mixed bag.  Usually you get good picture and sound quality, though there have been a few exceptions.  This one, the Samsung PN42C450, is a bit down the food chain, but it makes up for this deficiency by being an excellent value.

The Samsung PN42C450 is a forty two inch 720p plasma television that offers a game mode to reduce blurring in high speed images, two ten watt speakers with SRS TruSurround HD, clear image panel, three HDMI ports, two component video inputs, one composite video input, two audio inputs, a USB port, a PC input, and playback for digital audio, digital video and digital photos.

It’s a 720p, so the picture is definitely far down the scale against what you can get today (though admittedly it doesn’t look half bad), but the sound is pretty solid (that SRS TruSurround does some really great things with ten watt speakers), which sort of balances the whole thing out.  Now here’s the best part–you can get one of these for five hundred thirty nine bucks out at Best Buy, which is a pretty good price on a fairly large plasma.

Lower end aside, the Samsung PN42C450 is still a system that catches interest, and if you’re looking for a decent new television, definitely take a second look at this Samsung.
