Blu-ray discs brought with them the ability to store high definition movies due to their extremely large storage capacities. However, it seems that Sharp is going to push the threshold even further as today they have announced that they have created the world’s first 100GB Blu-ray disc.

This may not seem like a big deal but with this added storage capactity many things can happen. Just imagine, having almost an entire season of your favorite TV show on just one Blu-ray disc. It may seem crazy, but if the technology continues to improve at the rate it is then we may be seeing that happen very, very soon.

Of course, seeing how the disc is triple layer, traditional Blu-ray players most likely won’t be able to read them. Oh well, everyone loves spending their hard earned cash on more hardware, right?
