Philips Announce New Combination DVD-Video/SACD Player

At CES 2002 yesterday, Philips announced their latest combination DVD-Video and SACD player, the DVD962SA, which incorporates the company’s proprietary Crystal Clear Pro Progressive™ Scan technology with a sophisticated Motion Adaptive System, featuring the DCDi® chip by Faroudja, offers multichannel SACD playback (with bass management).

The machine also incorporates DTS and Dolby Digital surround-sound processing and is compatible with CD-R and CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, SVCD and VCD. The DVD962SA will be available in February 2002 and will have a suggested retail price of $599.

Philips also announced a baby brother named the DVD900SA with a similar feature set to the DVD962SA, but without the DCDi® processing. It will also be available in February 2002 with an amazingly low suggested retail price of $299!
