Panasonic Gears Up To Launch Their First Handheld Gaming Console

Recently, Panasonic decided to take on a different frontier in the world of electronic consumer products that they’ve never tried before: handheld console gaming. They’re planning to develop a new, miniature gaming system that could be similar to the iPod touch, Nintendo DSi and Sony PSP. Interestingly enough, the company has named their new mini-console “the Jungle”.

Furthermore, this mini-console will be a clamshell form factor device equipped with a powerful high-resolution display and a full QWERTY keyboard. In addition to this, a touch-activated D-pad and button configuration could also be included. According to Ubergizmo, a Linux build is a likely choice for the Panasonic handheld’s operating system and other possible specifications consist of a mini HDMI port, a micro USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Well, this is definitely an ambitious, business venture for a company that has no personal experience in the world of handheld gaming. Nonetheless, in the months or years to come, we’ll see how good the chances are that the Jungle and Panasonic’s gaming ambition actually have a future.
