Mobile Fidelity Announces Dates For 4 Upcoming SACDs

Mobile Fidelity has announced projected release dates for their next four SACDs. Included in the list are upcoming SACDs from Blood, Sweat and Tears, Patricia Barber and Jim Hall as well as the next classical recording in the label’s new Surround Sound Series by Leonard Slatkin and the St. Louis Symphony.

3 SACDs in November
On November 25th, Mobile Fidelity plans to bring three new SACDs to market. This release will include the long-awaited Hybrid Stereo SACDs of Blood, Sweat & Tears 3 and Patricia Barber’s Companion album as well as a Hybrid Surround Sound SACD of Ivan The Terrible.

Blood, Sweat and Tears 3 (Mobile Fidelity UDSACD 2013) features vocalist David Clayton-Thomas performing the hits “Hi-De-Ho” and “Lucretia Mac Evil” as well as the group’s take on songs better known by other artists including “He’s A Runner”, “40,000 Headmen”, “Fire and Rain” and even a version of the Stones “Sympathy for the Devil”. In my earlier article on this SACD, Mobile Fidelity promised that the new SACD will outshine the available CD edition of the album (see web link below).

Patricia Barber’s “Companion” Hybrid Stereo SACD (Mobile Fidelity UDSACD 2023) will follow her three prior Hybrid Stereo SACDs on Mobile Fidelity which were all well received. Companion is a live recording from the Green Mill in Chicago. The SACD edition will include a bonus track “You Are My Sunshine”.

Ivan The Terrible (Mobile Fidelity UDSACD 4003) will be the second release in Mobile Fidelity’s new Surround Sound Series of Hybrid SACDs. The album comes from the Vox Music catalog of 4 Channel Recordings in the 1970s. This one features Leonard Slatkin and the St. Louis Symphony’s performance of the Prokofiev classic.

Coming in January
Following these 3 new SACDs in November, Mobile Fidelity plans a 4th new release in January. This new SACD will be a Hybrid Stereo SACD by Jim Hall entitled “Concierto” (Mobile Fidelity UDSACD 2012). The album is taken from the CTI jazz catalog of Creed Taylor and stars jazz guitarist Hall along with jazz greats Chet Baker, Ron Carter, Paul Desmon, Roland Hanna and Steve Gadd. According to Mobile Fidelity, Concierto is considered by some to be the “best record ever released on the CTI label” and is “fully realized sonically” on this upcoming Hybrid Stereo SACD.

Preorders on the New SACDs
Music Direct, Mobile Fidelity’s parent company is already taking preorders on these 4 upcoming SACDs. You may want to look into preordering the SACDs from Music Direct or some of the other web sites that carry SACDs. The reason I mention that is often audiophile label SACDs like these arrive at the web stores before the official in store dates. So if you really want one of these SACDs, take a look into this option.
