Philips Consumer Electronics have tentatively announced two new SACD players for the European and American markets. They will be the company’s second and third multichannel-SACD/DVD-Video players and both are equipped with basic SACD bass management.
The least expensive machine will be the SACD 900, priced at approximately Ј200 ($299). Accompanying it, the Ј400 ($600) DVD9625A adds a Faroudja progressive-scan output – a feature unavailable to ‘official’ unmodified PAL machines – and built-in Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel decoders.
The company’s flagship player, the SACD 1000 ~Ј1,350 ($1,999) will continue to head Philip’s SACD line-up.
