YouTube adds 3,000 movies to streaming service

.

Google and YouTube have officially entered the movies streaming wars with Netflix, iTunes and others: Google has announced that it has struck a deal with movie studios NBC Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros to bring over 3,000 movies to stream on YouTube.

The movies will stream for $2.99 or $3.99 on PC or Google TV, but so far will only be offered in standard definition. The movies are online and available now, on Youtube.com/movies. A lot of well known titles are available, like Harry Potter, Fast and Furious, The Dark Knight and The Bourne series.

This marks Google’s official entry into the streaming/movie rental arena, where it’ll take on heavyweights suchs as iTunes, Amazon’s movie service, and of course, Netflix.
