Western Digitals Latest Media Player Comes With A Built-In Hard Drive

Recently, Western Digital unveiled their latest media player, the Elements Play, which includes a built-in hard drive. This drive is packing playback features of the WD TV series and up to 2TB of internal memory straight from the box. According to Engadget, this new media player from Western Digital is a long time coming since rival brand LaCie already launched integrated drives in its LaCinema product line over a year ago. However, the Elements Play lacks the the Netflix streaming capacity of the WD TV Live Plus and apparently, it can’t stream at all. Nonetheless, the new media player does offer 1080p playback through HDMI and strong codec support. Currently, there is no information available concerning price or a release date, though.
