Vudu adds TV shows available for rental

The last time that we focused on Vudu, it was when they were getting friendly with Boxee.

Now the company, which I am told is owned by Wal-Mart, has added a catalog of TV shows to its library for rent and/or purchase. Sadly, only a small part of them will be available in high definition, even though Vudu has 1080p and 5.1 audio HDX technology.

Still, you got to like the additions of some popular shows like Seasons one of “Glee” and “Modern Family” which are in standard definition. “Weeds” is also available, not to mention every episode of “Gossip Girl”. I believe that these are in standard definition, but “The Walking Dead” is in HD.

Vudu is offering a “Season Purchase” option that allows users to buy all episodes in one swift strike rather than episode per episode. Standard definition episodes are $1.99 each, and HD streams are $2.49 to $2.99. Full seasons have varying prices.
