Vizio M420NV LED Television Review-Comparative Bargain Workhorse

We carry on with a look at one of the comparative dark horses in home theater products, taking a look at an LED television from the folks at Vizio. They’ve been something of an out of nowhere phenomenon, but they’ve got big sales, so it’s well worth checking out what they’ve got. Today we’ve got the Vizio M420NV on tap, and it’s actually pretty nice.

The Vizio M420NV is a forty two inch 1080p LED television that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate to reduce blurring, automatically adjusting brightness sensors to regulate the amount of backlighting used based on how much light is in the room, two ten watt speakers backed up with both SRS TruVolume and SRS TruSurround HD, four HDMI ports, one component input, one composite input, one RF input, a PC input, a stereo audio output and an SPDIF digital optical output.

Admittedly, this is a little short in the features department, but there’s still a lot to like here. The picture and sound both look and sound great–it’s hard not to with 1080p video at a higher refresh rate than some might be used to back in the 60 Hz cycle days as well as speakers with plenty of SRS augmentation–and there are more than enough ports here for your newest gear. Older gear will get short shrift here, but that’s really to be expected given the nature of the system.

And here’s the best part: out at Amazon you can find this for $899.99, which makes this a fine example of current tech at a pretty nice price.

Add all of that up–good but not great features and ports, and a low sticker price–and that makes the Vizio M420NV one you’ll absolutely want a second look at, and possibly even bring home. I’d say it would fit in well most anywhere, and gives us a great look at why Vizio’s sales have done so well lately.
