Virgin Record’s V2 Music label in the U.K. has released Paul Weller’s new album entitled Studio 150 in Super Audio CD Surround Sound. The new album features the singer, best known for his years with the groups Jam and Style Council before going solo, performing 12 well known standards. Studio 150 is a “day and date” release with both the CD Audio and SACD editions coming to market on September 13th in Europe.
Songs on the album include Weller’s versions of Wishing on a Star, All Along The Watchtower, Birds, Early Morning Rain and even Close to You. According to the record label, Weller performed each of the songs live in the studio with just two or three takes for each selection. This approach is said to give the Studio 150 album a nice sense of spontaneous performances.

The Surround Sound Super Audio CD edition of Studio 150 by Paul Weller is now available in music stores in Europe. It is also available from several web sites in Europe that sell SACDs including Amazon.co.uk (U.K), Amazon.de (Germany), Play.Com (U.K.) and Jpc.de (Germany). In checking the Play.Com SACD web site, the Studio 150 SACD is currently their best selling Super Audio CD title according to their SACD top sellers chart.
