Toshiba LCD plant damaged in Japan quake/tsunami

Toshiba’s plant close to Sendai will be closing for a month due the damages caused by the 9.0 earthquake and the resulting tsunami. The plant is one of Toshiba’s main LCD plants, and to make matters worse for the LCD market, Panasonic and Hitachi have also announced that their LCD plants in the area have sustained damages and will be shut down. Of course, manufacturing plants and LCDs are one thing, and human lives are another. Luckily, no one at the Toshiba plant was injured and we hope Japan gets back on its track soon.
