Sweet Home Theater Setup – The Gaming Rig

We forget, sometimes, that one of the greatest purposes for home theater is not to offer movies–though this is the original purpose and perhaps the greatest–but it is not the only.  One of the greatest purposes a home theater can serve is to play video games, and what better way to show off the power of a truly sweet home theater setup than with one of the biggest game releases of 2009, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?

It’s a pretty simple setup, but it definitely gets the job done.  In fact, one thing you’ll discover is that it’s actually all so simple that it can be controlled by one single remote.  Even the lights in the room are keyed to it.

There’s plenty of sweet hardware in this setup besides, like a fifty six inch Samsung DLP, a Playstation 3, an Xbox 360, an Onkyo 7.1 channel surround sound home theater system, a Harmony One universal remote, and just to round things out, Ikea LED light strips and a Lutron IR dimmer.

It may be simple, but it does a great job, and to that end, it’s definitely a sweet home theater setup.
