Moody Blues fans were excited to learn that the Super Audio CD editions of Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and Seventh Sojourn are now scheduled for release in the U.K. and Europe on April 2nd. The news follows last year’s release of five of the band’s classic albums – 4 in Surround Sound Super Audio CD (A Question Of Balance, Days of Future Passed, On The Threshold Of A Dream and To Our Children’s, Children’s Children) and 1 in Stereo Super Audio CD (In Search Of The Lost Chord). These five SACDs were initially released in Europe and then made their way to the U.S. market in June and September.
The Final Two Albums Come to Market
As the first five Moody Blues albums were being released in the U.S., Moody Blues lead singer Justin Hayward revealed that he was working on Super Audio CD editions of Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and Seventh Sojourn. It is our understanding that work on both of these albums will be handled by the same engineering and production team that handled the first five Moody Blues SACD remasters, led by Hayward. The goal was to bring the final two albums to market in the Spring of 2007 in Europe and this now appears to be the case.
Preorders Now Being Taken
A check of several European based web sites including Amazon.co.uk and CD-WOW are now taking pre-orders for both of the upcoming Moody Blues Super Audio CDs. They are showing a release date of April 2, 2007 which is consistent with the plans for a Spring 2007 release. The CD Universe web site in the U.S. market is also accepting pre-orders for the two Moody Blues SACDs with the same release date.
Curiously, the Amazon.Com web site in the U.S. is taking pre-orders – but with a much earlier release date for the SACDs on February 20th. We’ll keep an eye on this but from what we’ve heard to date, the April 2, 2007 release date on the European web sites appears to be the correct one.
