Samsung UN55D8000 LED Television Review-Impressive 3D

There’s nothing quite like a huge LED television to put some punch in your home theater. You don’t get too much bigger than the fifty five inch models unless you go full projector, and even then, many projectors won’t tackle 3D the way a big LED television would. And that’s why it’s great to be talking about the Samsung UN55D8000 LED television, a huge, 3D capable monster that may be heavily priced, but will impress like no tomorrow.

The Samsung UN55D8000 is a fifty five inch 1080p LED television that offers, as I mentioned, 3D capability, but also throws in Auto Motion Plus (which lets the television operate at 240Hz, about four times faster than normal televisions to reduce blurring in high speed images), Micro Dimming Plus technology to improve contrast levels, Smart TV (which gives you access to Samsung television apps, and they’ve got a lot of those on hand), Skype video conferencing capability, onboard wi-fi capability, ConnectShare Movie to let you play from a camcorder or USB drive, two ten watt speakers with SRS TheaterSound, Samsung’s Ultra Clear Panel technology to improve the picture, four HDMI inputs, one component input, two composite inputs, a PC input, three USB ports, a component audio input, a PC audio input and a digital audio output.

It’s hard not to be impressed by a spec list like that, and what’s more, it does pretty much everything. Sure, it’s light on the old equipment hookups–one component and two composite is a bit light–but with four HDMI, three USB and a PC input, well, you’ve got just about every format you could ask for. It handles streaming, it offers 3D in HD, and the sound coming out of this thing sure impressed me.

About the only downside here is price, as is generally the case with the most amazing of televisions. This one, in fact, is sufficiently amazing as to command a list price of thirty six hundred bucks, though you can do better, admittedly, if you’re willing to shop or go refurbished. I saw this one going for as little as thirty two hundred on a refurb.

Still though, if you really want some mind-blowing 3D in your television, well, the Samsung UN5D8000 is just the place to start.
