Samsung recently unveiled its new 70-inch Full HDTV with local dimming technology in Korea. Besides using conventional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) version, the latest TV employs a light-emitting diode (LED) backlight. In dark image areas the LED Light gets turned off to deliver a dynamic contrast ratio of 500,000:1. The new LCD TV consumes fifty percent less power. 70-inch Full HDTV will be made available across the globe in the second half of the year.
