Samsung 46-inch high bright DID LCD panel

Samsung has announced that it has begun manufacturing the world’s highest brightest 46-inch LCD panel. Although it is designed for Digital Signage market, so it is not a home theater category. But this scoop is worth sharing. It features 1500-nit brightness, it is almost three times of the prevailing typical LCD TV today.

“Advertisers and outdoor media companies want an energy-efficient display that draws the attention of shoppers and travelers in the middle of the day under bright indoor lighting or strong natural lighting and that’s exactly what we’re delivering,” said Scott Birnbaum, vice president, Samsung LCD Business. “With our high bright and other Samsung DID panels, we’re ushering in a new age of advertising that provides mesmerizing imagery that is as informative as it is attention-grabbing.”

Samsung’s latest DID LCD panel offers a high definition image at contrast ratio of 3000:1, screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and 16.7 million colors. As it is expected to be employed in bus shelters, shopping malls, transit centers and museums, it offers widest viewing angle of 178 degrees. It has been engineered to create prominent outdoor and indoor “video wall” effects.

Samsung’s latest range of DID panels will appear in the markets sometime later this month.
