Nintendo Celebrates 25 Years Of Mario With Release Of DSi And DSi XL Special Edition

Unquestionably, the original Super Mario Bros. is one of the biggest video games of all time. It led to the birth of the world’s most renowned gaming company and triggered a new generation of gamers. With that said, it is only fitting that Nintendo should want to celebrate September 13, which is the 25th birthday of the first Mario game.

Therefore, the company has chosen to celebrate twenty-five years of Mario by releasing special editions of the DSi and DSi XL mini-consoles. However, there is some bad news for those of us who live in the Western part of the world. These handhelds are only being offered in Japan. Furthermore, there’s a Super Mario Collection Special Pack that’s included with the mini-consoles. The pack consists of a Wii version of Super Mario All-Stars, a soundtrack CD and a “Super Mario History, 1985 to 2010″ booklet with unreleased materials like initial development planning sheets handwritten by Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

If you’re a diehard fan of the Super Mario games, then you’ll probably be seriously envying the Japanese right about now. Nonetheless, acquiring the special edition DSi And DSi XL with Super Mario Collection Special Pack by special order is another option. The handhelds launch this October so you should place your order now while Nintendo still has units in stock.
