New Releases from TACET

TACET’s latest DVD-Audio release is Schubert’s ‘Octet in F major D803’, performed by the Camerata Freden. For their stereo production of Schubert’s Octet D 803 the eight musicians in Camerata Freden and the TACET label have received three top grades from reviewers in the online magazine Klassik: “A Schubert interpretation as thrilling and audacious as this will not come your way every day: compelling, full of surprises and unpredictable from start to finish. The musical resourcefulness of Camerata Freden knows no bounds…

This infinitely resourceful interpretation is now available as a DVD-Audio title in a surround sound version which came out in November 2004 and was immediately awarded the annual Surround Sound Prize by the association of German recording engineers.

TACET also continue to re-release their multi-channel titles in the SACD format. Formerly a staunch DVD-Audio supporter, the label is now embracing both the rival formats.

On SACD:

J.S. Bach’s solo sonatas and partitas performed by Florian Paul, the Goldberg Variations in a version for string trio with the Gaede Trio, a Kreisler album with Daniel Gaede and Sashka Gavrilov with a presentation of seven famous violins from Amati to Stradivarius – these are just some of the “classics” in the TACET catalogue that have helped to build up the label’s reputation.

The fact that they are available in the usual stereo CD format, and are to appear also on LP for the sake of lovers of the big black records, is self-evident, but meanwhile in addition to SACD stereo, playable on traditional CD players, we also have SACD Surround, for which special equipment is necessary, just as it is for DVD-Audio. All these forms of reproduction are found with TACET, but Real Surround Sound and Moving Real Surround Sound can claim special importance because of their exceptionally sophisticated qualities.

This month a total of eight TACET classical recordings will also become available on SACD. Attention must be drawn to one of the great stars in the history of sound reproduction: the tubular microphone, which Andreas Spreer has favoured for a number of recordings.
