Netflix has finally come to Android phones, to a limited degree

We have reported on Netflix coming to Android before (but not where you want it) as well as its appearance at Mobile World Congress. Finally, Netflix is on the Android phone.

You will note the disclaimer of “to a limited degree” in the title of this posting. There is a good reason for that, as it only works for certain phones. Here is the list that it is compatible with: Samsung Nexus S, Evo 4G, Droid Incredible, T-Mobile G2, and the Nexus One.

Yes, there are no Motorola phones on that list, and also curiously are Honeycomb tablets. Apparently, this is part of the plan, as the Netflix Market download will only be available on select phones that “have the requisite playback support”. They will “work with ecosystem partners to expand playback support”.

Something tells me that we will be hearing more about Netflix on Android more in the future. Considering how much Android is growing, I am surprised that Netflix could keep up with the demand.
