Netflix and Miramax comes close to an agreement

Netflix did not fare to well when it came to its streaming line up of TV shows earlier in the week, but one can assume that the worse is over for the company since some promising news has filtered out. It seems that movie studio Miramax and Netflix have come pretty close to an understanding, and are just moments away from signing a $100 million, five-year deal that will see Netflix stream all of Miramax’s movie titles – at least that is what The Wall Street Journal reported.

It is a pretty significant victory for Netflix, since Miramax has over 700 movies stashed away in its library, so that would mean a hefty addition to Netflix’s growing library. Although we aren’t too sure as to when the deal will close since no particular date was dropped for when the titles from Miramax will be available via the Watch Instantly feature of the video rental service.

As usual, companies tend to remain mum in response to rumors and whispers, and Netflix remains the same without any comment on such reports. Would you subscribe to Netflix if Miramax joins the fold?
