LG recently took center stage at the SID-2010 conference to show attendees a 15-inch W-OLED panel they have been working on. According to LG, thanks to the W-OLED technology featured in this panel they will be eable to achieve significantly improved lifetime and color depth.

According to OLED-Display, in a standard panel, pixels age differently due to the brightness of the various colors. In these new white emitting OLED panels, light is emitted through various color filters so during each pixel refresh, everything ages equally.

There’s no telling when this technology will be made commercially available but you’ll know as soon as we do.
