Kinect hack creates gesture-based remote

I think this video shows that we are looking forward to an age where the remote control is a thing of the past.

What you are seeing is a YouTube video from a man named Harishankar, and he has used a Kinect to make a gesture-based remote control.

The video has a more detailed explanation of how he did it, and, as you can see, there is a way of flicking his arm so the channel changes.

You will note that a lot of physical activity is required in order to make this thing work. Perhaps more physical activity then one would like if a clicker box can do the job. However, anything that encourages at least some physical stimulus in front of the TV set is always a good thing, right?
