Google to spend $100 million on original content on YouTube?

According to new reports from Wall Street Journal, online giant Google is looking to get into the content business, at least, for their popular video site YouTube. Now Google will invest $100 million into producing high quality, original content for the site, which will amount to several hours of content per week. Which isn’t a lot, considering that YouTube users are uploading several hours of content – mostly low quality stuff – every minute or so.

Google will reportedly create channels of original content for difference categories, which it will also offer on its new Google TV service. According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is currently in early stages of producing content, looking for talent, etc.
