EMI Classics Releases Moment of Glory in Multichannel SACD

For it’s first SACD release, EMI Classics in Germany has selected the album “Moment of Glory”. The album is a Hybrid Layer Multichannel SACD which is playable on SACD and CD players.

If you’re not familiar with this album, it was recorded in early 2000 and features the German rock group The Scorpions accompanied by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Conductor Christian Kolonovits worked for several years to develop arrangements for the orchestra to fuse rock and classical music. In addition, on the title track “Moment of Glory”, Scorpions lead singer Klaus Meine is also joined by a children’s choir from Vienna. Other guests on the album include Lyn Liechty, Zucchero and Ray Wilson. The album was mixed for Stereo and Multichannel SACD by Ronald Prent at Galaxy Studios in Belgium.

This album is clearly in the category of a “crossover release” vs. what you would normally consider a Classical Music release. However, if you’re a fan of the Scorpions rock group, or you want to try something completely different, this should prove to be an interesting Multichannel SACD release.
