Adobe Abandons Flash Player for Television Use

Adobe’s Flash has long been the go to standard when it comes to things like browser based video and games. However, now that use of HTML5 is becoming more widespread and the fact that it’s more stable than Flash many are wondering how much longer Adobe’s software will be around. Well, it seems that it’s the beginning of the end for Flash as the company recently announced that they would be abandoning development for the software’s mobile componenn.t

But that’s not all. Adobe also announced that they would no longer be developing a television specific version of Flash for use with tings like Google TV and more. Is this a big deal? Seeing how many streaming sites only offer their content in Flash and if the past is anything to go by it’s going to be quite some time before the majority of them make the switch to HTML 5.
