Yamaha YHT-893BL Home Theater System Review-Surprisingly Strong System

We go from the bargain basement clear up to the top shelf with today’s review target–we’ll be looking at the Yamaha YHT-893BL, a hugely potent (and priced to match!) system that will offer lots of options, possibly a whole lot more than you need.

The Yamaha YHT-893BL is a seven channel 630 watt home theater system with six satellite speakers, a center channel speaker, a receiver and a subwoofer. You’ll also get a YDS-12 Universal Dock, a Yamaha-specific item that lets you dock your iPhone and iPod. Plus, you’ll get Bluetooth connectivity, four HDMI inputs (which in turn allows for 1080p upscaling), three different volume controls, an on-screen display to make handling your various input devices a little easier, the SCENE mode that changes the settings of your system based on the specific type of input you’re using, Cinema DSP for better sound quality, and a headphone jack that’ll actually sounds like surround in your headphones (they call it Silent Cinema).

See what I mean? Incredible variety of functions here. The sound quality is downright impressive even though it’s a lower wattage system than we often see, and it’s got plenty of utility so that, if you have a lot of newer hardware that can take advantage of the HDMI, then you’ll likely be surprised by the sheer amount of capability in this system.

But as is so often the case with high-performing hardware, you’ll pay for it, and in this case, pay heavily. The Yamaha YHT-893BL sells for $705.46 out at Amazon. Not that it isn’t worth it, mind you–it’s a system with a whole lot of power and capability, but you’ll lose a huge amount on the value side.

If you want a top performer and you’re not afraid to pay for it, then you’ll want to have a listen to the Yamaha YHT-893BL, because it’ll probably impress you as much as it did me.
