White PS3 Slim Announced In Japan

Today, Sony in Japan revealed the upcoming launch of a slim, white version for the PS3 called “Classic White”. It is set to be released on the consumer market, accompanying the current “Charcoal Black” version that’s available for retail. Interestingly enough, a “Ceramic White” model of the Sony gaming console was previously released back in 2008. Currently, the company intends to ship larger HDDs with the PS3 Slim soon although its specifications won’t receive any significant changes.

Also known as the CECH-2500A LW, the new white PS3 Slim will be released only with a 160GB HDD. Meanwhile, the black version comes with the option of 160GB HDD (CECH-2500A) or a 320GB HDD (CECH-2500A LW). In addition to this, the 120GB PS3 Slim will be available under an open price on Wednesday, July 7. The CECH-2500 series will go on sale for consumers in Japan on July 29. The black and white 160GB models are priced at $341 while the 320GB console will cost $398. However, there is no current information concerning international prices for the new PS3 consoles yet.
