Music retailers found a surprise this week when they logged on to the Universal Music B2B Extranet. Included among the new album listings on the web site were instructions on how to order the first 14 SACD releases from the Universal Music record labels in the US.
According to the information on the UMG Extranet (and posted at a local record store), the first 12 Universal SACDs will be released on September 10th and 2 more will follow on September 17th.
The two SACDs coming out on September 17th will be released on the same day that the album’s CD counterpart arrives in stores: “All I Got” by Al Jarreau on GRP and “Ask A Woman Who Knows” by Natalie Cole on the Verve label.
The ordering information from Universal Music advises music store buyers that preorders for the SACDs with a store date of September 10th should be sent in by August 23rd. Preorders for the following week’s releases are due by August 30th.
