Universal Music’s Deutsche Grammophon label has released a new Surround Sound Super Audio CD by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. In performances conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, the orchestra performs several classic compositions: Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Mussorgsky’s Night On A Bare Mountain and Bartok’s Miraculous Mandarin. The SACD release comes a month after Universal Music brought out the balance of the 5 Moody Blues Super Audio CD Remastered Series discs in the U.S. market.
In addition to these releases, Universal Music’s Fontana Distribution Group continues to be active in the Super Audio CD market by issuing new SACDs from the Telarc, Heads Up and Chesky labels. Universal Music’s latest release list now shows their planned Super Audio CD releases through November.

Deutsche Grammophon’s newest Surround Sound Super Audio CD features Esa-Pekka Salonen’s first recording as Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. It is also the first live recording made at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The record label says that “The central piece, Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps was conducted by Salonen on the inaugural night of the Hall in 2003, a masterpiece that becomes something of a miracle within the outstanding acoustics of the Walt Disney Hall. This recording captures the energy, beauty and musical power of this extraordinary collaboration.”
