Two New DVD-Audio Titles From AIX Records

AIX Records have announced the availability of two new DVD-Audio titles, Johannes Brahms – ‘Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34’ and ‘Nitty Gritty Surround’ featuring John McEuen, Jimmy Ibbotson and The String Wizards with special guest Jennifer Warnes.

Recorded at 96kHz 24-bit resolution throughout the entire signal path in November of 2000 on the stage at the Fox Theater in Hanford, California, ‘Nitty Gritty Surround’ features acoustic bluegrass and traditional folk music. The AIX Records 5.1 surround mix immerses the listener in the sound of mandolin, guitar, fiddle, banjo and harmonising vocals. The disc features two songs by master songwriter and singer Jennifer Warnes.

Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34’ by Brahms, performed by Delores Stevens (piano) and The Ives String Quartet was recorded at 96/24 between April 4th and 5th, 2000 at the Zipper Auditorium, Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles.

Both discs are compatible with DVD-Audio and DVD-Video players and include multiple camera angle video (DVD-Video side), alternate ‘Stage’ and ‘Audience’ mixes plus extensive supplementary material which includes performer biographies and explanations of the recording techniques and technologies used.

I believe the audio on the McEuen disc truely highlights the advantages of making new recordings using high resolution capable equipment” said Mark Waldrep, PhD., President and CEO of AIX Media Group.

Exerpts from both titles are featured upon the AIX DVD-Audio sampler disc.
