Titanic 3D coming in April 2012

James Cameron loves 3D so much that he’s spending lots of money digitizing Titanic into 4K, then converting into 3D for all those who just can’t get more or Jake and Kate and the sinking ship. Today, Fox announced that Titanic 3D will open in theaters on April 6, 2012, exactly 100 years after the real ship set sail.

The 3D remake won’t be rushed like many of today’s films, which are quickly converted into 3D in order to cash in on the craze. Now, as Cameron points out, they’re “painstakingly converting it to 3D”. Then again, that’s what he’s supposed to say.

It’s hard to imagine how the new film will look, since the original film wasn’t shot in 3D, in fact, it wasn’t even shot in digital, so we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.
