The Boxee Now Unveiled, Priced, Available This Spring

Well, here’s a jolly chunk of news to fire up a day for you, folks!

Apparently the long-awaited, long-described, long-decried Boxee Box is now unveiled and it stands available for purchase around two hundred bucks.  You’ll be able to lay hands on one of these next Spring.

Here’s the deal: the Boxee Box is essentially a set-top streaming box, much like a Roku, that includes HDMI and composite-video outputs, an optical (Toslink) audio out port, Wi-Fi (802.11n), an Ethernet port, a pair of USB ports, and an SD card slot.  Backing Boxee in the tech department is no less a name than D-Link, so there’s plenty of reason to be liked there.

The big problem, of course, is the price.  Aside from having a name that’s making 4chan denizens cringe in horror literally everywhere, or break out into rapt glee, the Boxee Box costs fully double what the Roku costs.  However, the Boxee does offer plenty of options in terms of streaming, featuring content from Netflix, the MLB, YouTube, Flickr, Digg, and CNN.

Will you buy a Boxee Box?  Or will you wait a while to see what other set top options shake out?
