Telarc, Heads Up and PentaTone Release 5 Surround Sound SACDs

Telarc International along with their Heads Up jazz label and the PentaTone Classics label they distribute in the U.S. have released 5 Surround Sound SACDs. The Super Audio CDs from Telarc and Heads Up are «day and date» releases by the Boston Baroque, Pieces of a Dream and Marion Meadows, with both the Surround Sound SACD and Stereo CD versions of the album arriving in stores on the same day. In the case of the two Surround Sound SACDs from PentaTone Classics, these are Single Inventory Surround Sound SACDs with the SACD serving as both the SACD and CD release of the album. read more…

Miles Davis Tribute Album Issued As 2-Disc Stereo SACD Set

Cuneiform Records in Silver Spring, Maryland has released a 2-disc Hybrid Stereo Super Audio CD album entitled Sky Garden which is a tribute to the music of jazz great Miles Davis. Sony Music Changes Beyonce SACD to Europe Only Release

Sony Music has announced that the upcoming Surround Sound Super Audio CD of Dangerously in Love by Beyonce Knowles will not be available in the U.S. market. It will, however, be released in Surround Sound SACD in Europe on May 10th as previously scheduled. read more…

Fantasy Records has announced the next 10 titles in their Super Audio CD Reissue series. Titanic Soundtrack Arrives in SACD Surround Sound

Sony Classical has released a new edition of the Titanic Soundtrack album. The new version is a Hybrid Super Audio CD which features a 5.1 Surround Sound mix of the music on the album as well as SACD Stereo and CD Stereo tracks.

High Fidelity Review readers will recall that the Titanic Soundtrack was originally released as a Single Layer Stereo SACD disc (Sony Classical/Sony Music Soundtrax SS 63213) in the early days of the Super Audio CD format. This version of the album has been out of print in anticipation of the SACD Surround Sound edition which appears this week after appearing in Sony Music’s SACD Catalogs for a very long time. read more…
