A pair of good earphones can run over a $100, while most hover around that number, like Apple’s great iPod in-ear headphones. However, Sony has released brand new MDR-EX1000 earphones which cost a pay-check-numbing $800.

The earphones are available on Asia only, but can be imported via AudioCubes.com. The earphones are housed in a magnesium alloy, and are powered by a 16mm driver with a response range between 3-30,000Hz – the most we’ve ever seen in earphones.
