Sony Releases SACDs by Weather Report and Toto

Sony Music has released two jazz and rock catalog favorites in Multichannel SACD. The new releases are “Mysterious Traveler” by Weather Report and “Toto IV” by Toto. Both discs are Single Layer SACD Discs that feature both a Stereo and Multichannel SACD mix and are playable only on SACD equipment.

Mysterious Traveler
Weather Report

Originally recorded in 1974, Mysterious Traveller was the fourth studio album by jazz-fusion group Weather Report. The album includes several Weather Report favorites including “Nubian Sundance” and “Cucumber Slumber”. The 5.1 Multichannel mix on Mysterious Traveler was produced by Al Quaglieri (who has produced several previous Sony SACDs including the Multichannel SACDs of “Ship Ahoy” by the O’ Jays and “3+3” by the Isley Brothers).

Toto IV
Toto
(Columbia CS 86544)

Toto IV was the biggest selling album by the rock group Toto. Recorded in 1982, the album features several hit singles including “Rosanna” and “Africa”. On three of the songs, you’ll hear Timothy B. Schmitt of The Eagles on background vocals.

This album was one of Sony Music’s early Stereo SACD releases. For this new edition of Toto IV, Sony turned to well-known producer and engineer Elliot Scheiner to create a new 5.1 surround mix for the album.
