Earlier this week at their 2003 Consumer Open House event, Sony Electronics announced plans for two new Multichannel SACD/DVD Video players. Of particular note was the announcement of a 400 disc SACD changer for release later this year.
According to Joseph Stinziano, director of DVD marketing for Sony Electronics’ Home Entertainment Products Division. «With models such as a 400 disc SACD/DVD changer and dual compatible recorder offering multi-disc management features, we’re providing a convenient, elegant way for consumers to further benefit from the advantages of DVD home entertainment.»
DVP-CX985V Multichannel SACD/DVD Video Changer
The upcoming DVP-CX985V is a new addition to the Sony product line and is their first DVD Video Changer that also handles the playback of Multichannel SACD discs. Key features of the DVP-CX985V include a 400 disc «Explorer library management system» that offers Sony’s «Precision Cinema Progressive» progressive scan video playback technology, a 12 bit, 108 MHz Video D/A Converter and playback of MP3, CD-R, CD-RW sources and files. The DVP-CX985V is scheduled to be available in September for a list price of «about $400″.
DVP-NC685V
Also new to the Sony Home Audio & Video product line is the new DVP-NC685V changer. This changer offers both Multichannel SACD and DVD Video playback. It also features Sony’s «Precision Cinema Progressive» progressive scan video playback technology. According to Sony, «the 5-disc changer also offers simple navigation and disc management with such features as 40-disc resume memory and picture navigation.» The DVP-NC685V 5 disc changer is scheduled to be available in August for «about $250″.
