If you don’t have a Sonic Impact i-F2…

Cute little speakers that are easy to take with you to the beach.

I love my iPod and I’m always on the lookout for neat new accessories for it. That’s why I was so excited to take a closer look at the Sonic Impact i-F2 portable speakers. I’ve tried many different iPod speakers but I’ve been let down by just about all of them. So naturally, I tried these speakers not expecting a whole heck of a lot. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

Let’s start with the overall look of these portable speakers. I really like the hard case; I loved the convenience of it. Many speakers on the market are “portable” but they’re really not all that easy to pack up.

These Sonic Impact i-F2 speakers are actually easy to take with you. The case is light and slim but its hard surface will protect your speakers when they’re thrown around in your bag. The case is so small and compact it’s adorable! I like the way it zips up and even has a spot for storing your iPod when you’re not using it.

This portable speaker system is compatible with all iPods. For those of you who have some other kind of mp3 player, the manufacturers have included a special connector for you.

So, OK – the sound’s not as good as what you’ll get from your PolkMonitor 70’s. Duh! But for a portable
system, this is pretty darn good. You get some decent bass and the sound isn’t tinny at all, which is what normally ruins portable speakers of this size.

One of my favorite things about this portable speaker system is the battery life. It’s a rechargeable system that’s ultra convenient. You can listen to tunes while it’s charging. Once charging is complete, you can listen to your speakers for hours before the battery life runs out. That’s why they’re so great for the beach or a picnic. Just pop ‘em in your backpack and off you go. They’re so light, you won’t even know they’re there.

On the downside- like most Apple-related products — the shiny inside tends to scratch easily. You’ll want to make sure you keep it clean and dust free as much as possible. When you’re through listening, just give it a gentle wipe before you close up your speakers.

All in all, the Sonic Impact i-F2 is a very good iPod accessory. It sounds good for its size and the portability is topnotch. The case is great and ultra convenient. If not for the scratching problem, these speakers would be darn near perfect for their kind.
