Samsung HT-C6600 Home Theater System Review-Decent System, Poor Value

I’ve seen a lot of Samsung home theater gear, and generally, they do a pretty good job with their home theater speaker systems.  But this time around, though, the Samsung HT-C6600 just can’t bring the kind of value required to make it a worthwhile buy.

The Samsung HT-C6600 home theater system is a five channel includes Blu-ray player, Internet connectivity for access to a huge array of online content like Blockbuster, Netflix, and CinemaNow.  It’s also 3D-ready when you pick up an array of additional components, several different built-in surround sound decoders, a variety of playback options, a set of five matched satellite speakers with a total output of a thousand watts, a subwoofer, video upscaling for DVDs, automatic sound calibration, iPod dock, FM tuner, two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, one optical digital output, and one component video output.

Sounds pretty good, right?  Nothing terribly fancy, though I’ll admit the sound quality is pretty nice on this one.  But here’s the problem–you’re going to get “nothing too fancy” on the spec sheet and “pretty nice” sound for six hundred bucks out at Best Buy.

Now, I don’t know about you, but that’s way too much to ask for a marginal system like this.  In fact, it’s almost insultingly overpriced for what you get.  But still, the HT-C6600 is a decent enough system, if pretty wildly underpowered for what you get.
