Pioneer To Cease TV Production

Pioneer announced it will cease production of its HDTVs by March 2010.  Its third quarter earnings were poor and the Japanese company will be cutting over 10,000 jobs. Many consider Pioneer’s HDTVs, especially the Kuro line, to be the best looking on the market however their TVs are often considered to be less energy efficient an more expensive than LCD sets from other makers such as Samsung and Sony.

Pioneer’s pricey sets have driven customers shopping for HDTVs to look towards other lesser brands in these tough economic times. Pioneer will continue to make many of their other successful and profitable electronics products such as AV receivers, Blu-ray and many other components.
