Philips SACD Productions To Use SLS International Loudspeakers

SLS’s ultra-high fidelity loudspeakers are to be used by Phillips recording studios and for dealer demonstrations of the new Phillips/Sony, SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) technology.

SLS International, Inc. has announced that Netherlands-based Philips has taken delivery of seven SLS multi-channel speaker systems.

Paul Reynolds, director of business development, Philips B.G. System Standards & Licensing and in charge of the SACD projects stated, “This is our first order, but we anticipate expanding our usage of SLS’s systems to a number of other studios.

Phillips began auditioning the SLS multi-channel speaker systems in June of 2001. During the trial and evaluation period, Phillips engineers and producers quickly recognized the SLS systems clarity for speech reproduction and its delivery of exceptional musical detail of live performances, especially when mastering the new SACD digital recording format. Each speaker system in the Phillips studios consists of five HT8R two-way speakers, each containing an eight-inch poly cone woofer and an SLS PRD500 Ribbon Driver. The systems also include two SLS PSS12 powered subwoofers.

SLS International is a 25-year-old manufacturer and the developer of new proprietary ultra-high fidelity ribbon-driver loudspeakers and sound systems for the commercial, home entertainment, professional and music markets.

We have developed and launched many new initiatives throughout the year. We believe the recent Philips order in addition to our latest distributor agreements abroad have the potential to add millions to our current revenue streams,” said John Gott, Chairman and President of SLS International, Inc. “It took us several years to perfect the SLS Ribbon Driver technology, but it was certainly worth the wait. Our individual products and product lines deliver unmatched sound reproduction for pennies on the dollar. We have delivered new systems to several domestic and international, high profile recording studios and the response has been excellent.
