Nissho Electronics BDL5231-3D2R glasses-free 3D TV

I think we all know that both Hitachi and Toshiba have their share of glasses-free 3D TVs. Now Nissho Electronics has joined that crowd with the BDL5231-3D2R.

The BDL5231-3D2R is a 52 inch display that has a full HD resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate, 2,000:1 contrast ratio, 8ms response time, as well as 700 cd/m squared brightness. The 3D technology is provided by Dutch electronics venture Dimenco Displays, founded by former Philips employees.

The display went on sale in Japan, and it carries a hefty price tag of $20,850. Yes, you heard right, if you want glasses-free 3D, then you can spend a huge wad of cash and get it, but probably only in Japan.

In all honesty, I’m not certain whether Nissho Electronics is doing the right thing by putting out this glasses-free display now. I have heard that Toshiba isn’t really doing so hot on their glasses-free 3D TV sales, but I guess Nissho is saying: “pretty soon, everyone will probably have one of these at a lower price, but if you want it now, pay up”.
