Song Line Ups for Animals & Herman’s Hermits Retrospective SACDs

ABKCO Records has released the song line up and additional information about their upcoming “Retrospective” Hybrid Super Audio CDs by the Animals and Herman’s Hermits. The two new SACDs are due out on store shelves next month on July 20th. ABKCO says the timing of the release date of these discs coincides with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of each group’s chart debut. Sony Music Sets August 3rd for Next 3 SACDs in U.S. Market

Sony Music has announced that they plan to release 3 Hybrid Surround Sound Super Audio CDs on August 3rd. The new SACDs include A Crow Left of the Murder by Incubus, All That We Left In by the Indigo Girls and Coral by David Sanchez.

All 3 of these Super Audio CDs were announced as summer releases in the last few weeks. They represent Sony Music’s first U.S. releases since February when the label reissued James Horner’s Soundtrack Album from the Movie Titanic as a Hybrid Layer Surround Sound SACD (Sony Classics SH 93091). (Prior to that re-release, Titanic had been available early on as a Single Layer Stereo SACD from Sony Classics). read more…

Audio Fidelity Releases Jimmy Reed on Super Audio CD

Audio Fidelity continues to bring classic albums to market with the release of Jimmy Reed at Carnegie Hall in the Super Audio CD format. The new edition of this album features all 23 songs from the original release which initially appeared as a 2 album set on Vinyl LP in the 1960’s on the VeeJay label and was later reissued as a Stereo CD. read more…

Artegra Enters Classical SACD Market and Lowers Prices

Artegra Records, an audiophile label specializing in DSD jazz recordings, is entering the Classical Music market with two new Classical Surround Sound Super Audio CDs. The expansion comes after the label has issued 4 jazz SACDs and 1 SACD of traditional Swedish music. At the same time, Artegra has also announced that they are lowering the price of all of their Super Audio CD discs.

Both of the new SACD releases are Single Inventory Surround Sound SACDs. They feature SACD Surround Sound, SACD Stereo and CD Stereo versions of the music on each album. The discs are playable on SACD, CD and SACD compatible DVD Video players. The SACD disc will serve as both the SACD and CD edition of each album. read more…
