New Blu-Ray Discs to Hold 128GB

April 3, in Blu-Ray

A new Blu-ray format called the BDXL may yet address the so-called “cramped” storage of existing Blu-ray discs. With the new format, future BDXL formatted Blu-ray discs will be able to hold up to 128GB of write-once and 100GB of rewritable Blu-ray disc space.

But before that happens, you will need a new Blu-ray recorder/player to make it all work. These new discs will be three to four layers deep and will need a more powerful laser technology to be recognized meaning further confirmations are needed especially as far as compatible Blu-ray players are concerned.
