A Brand New THX-Certified Subwoofer Interconnect Cable
For the average consumer who just wants to be able to enjoy their movies more, this cable has a lot of good things going for it.
The Monster Standard 1/2 THX-Certified Subwoofer Interconnect Cable is a no frills bargain basement alternative to higher cost cables designed for the audio enthusiast on a budget. This is definitely not a cable for use in a high-priced audio system, but rather a performance solution for the rest of us. Monster, together with THX, created the home audio cable certification standard in order to ensure a minimum level of quality in any certified cable. Naturally there are some problems with Monster having input in the creation of the certification, but it’s still nice because it offers the consumer a reasonable level of expectation about the quality of their AV cable.
Testing the Monster Standard 1/2 THX-Certified Subwoofer Interconnect Cable proved slightly problematic because the cable I use in my home entertainment system is already a premium monster cable, so the results of the test would all be negative. However an answer came when I walked by my daughter’s room and heard her watching a movie. Last Christmas we had purchased an inexpensive surround system for my daughter’s room from a local big-box store; who knew it would ever come in handy?
The instulation was quite easy- just plug in the cable. I have to say, I really did appreciate the color-coded cable connectors and gold plated plugs. The color coding will greatly reduce the stress a first-time user feels when hooking up their system, and gold connectors always produce superior results.
After installing the new cable there was a definite audio improvement. While I cannot say it was nearly as good as my $3000 home entertainment system, it was clearly an improvement. The tonal quality of the bass was much richer and full-bodied than with the previous cable, and as with all Monster cables, for clarity the bass channel was amazing. The Monster Standard 1/2 THX-Certified Subwoofer Interconnect Cable is a perfect upgrade for low to midrange priced audio systems.
