Now before you get too excited make not that the above video shows nothing more than a proof of concept. However, the concept in question is a rather amazing omnidirectional projector.

What this is is basically a projector that will display an image on a curved surface, much like you would imagine an IMAX projector to work. However, what makes this unique is the IR camera situated in the projector itself. Thanks to this IR camera, users can manipulate the projected image by making various hand gestures over the camera. In the above demo, a Microsoft spokesperson shows how you can take a virtual tour of the universe using nothing more than your hands.

Hopefully we see this released to the general public but chances are we won’t for quite some time.
