Logitech Revue with Google TV Gets Booted to Recovery Mode, Root Incoming

Most premium devices that hit the market today are quite capable with noteworthy feature sets. However, some users in the community feel that many of these devices are crippled and don’t live up to their full potential. A perfect example of this is the entire line up of iOS powered devices such as the iPhone and iPad. Lucky for us, dedicated hackers within the community have developed methods of jailbreaking that allow consumers to load these devices with unauthorized software.

Google TV is no different with community members working anxiously to “root” the device, which is essentially another word for jailbreaking. Once this is completed, consumers will be able to finally install applications onto their Google TV powered hardware making it more powerful than ever before.

While this has yet to be accomplished, a Twitter user by the name of Stericson has managed to boot his Logitech Revue Google TV powered set-top box into recovery mode. This may not seem like a big deal to the untrained eye but it is a crucial step towards inevitably rooting the platform.
